the beetree began creating with Polymer Clay about ten years ago, inspired by a craftsman at a Farmer's Market. she love it's versatility!It transports my inspiration from Heart to Head to Hands.

what caught my eye in this specific design is the flow of color, it looks like a murmaid to me rather than an angle.

New clay in the neighbourhood

I was fortunate to get a sample of the new clay by the German company viva décor. The clay is called Pardo clay.
So, you can understand how thrilled I was to try it out and see for myself what the story with this clay is.

Here are my observations:

התמזל מזלי וקיבלתי לידי את החימר החדש מבית ויוה דקור לשם חוות דעת. לחימר קוראים פרדו. התלהבתי מאד וחיכיתי לנסות את החימר הזה ולתהות מעט על קנקנו.

General information –

Manufacturer – viva décor
It comes in 68 colors in very appealing colors. A lot of the colors are metallic or pearl.
It is packed in an original box.
It is very easy to measure the clay for projects since it is packed in a round box that includes small balls of clay.

כללי –

יצרן- ויוה דקור
מגיע ב-68 צבעים יפהפיים, בעיקר מטאליים וצבעי פנינה. החימר ארוז בקופסא יפה ובה מונחים כדורי חימר קטנים.

Softness-

The clay is very soft and in the Mediterranean weather I even go further and say it is too soft. I was playing with it in March which is still not very warm and still it was very very soft.
Softness is not necessarily being a cone – if this product’s market is children then it perfect. Lovely colors in eye catching shape that is not hard to play with.

because the fact that is very soft, mixing colors was very easy.

רכות-

החימר רך מאד, אפילו רק מדיי למזג האויר שלנו. יחד עם זאת, רכות אינה בהכרח תכונה שלילית- אם המוצר מיועד לילדים (והוא אכן כך) הרי שהשילוב בין רכות החומר, הצבעוניות היפה והכדורים המגרים היא בדיוק מה שצריך כדי שילדים ירצו לשחק בחומר.

בגלל שהחומר מאד רך היה מאד קל לערבב איתו צבעים לתבעים חדשים.

Durability –

I baked Premo,Fimo and Pardo sheet rolled on a #5 setting in my pasta machine. After baking I tried to bend the clay in half (as in folding).
The Pardo is very flexible, a bit more than the premo and a lot more than the Fimo.

עמידות –

אפיתי משטח של פימו פרמו ופרדו המרודדים על מספר 5 במכונת הפסטה. לאחר האפייה ניסיתי לקפל את המשטחים לשניים. הפימו נשבר ראשון (לא גמיש כלל, אחריו הפרמו והפרדו, היו כמעט באותה רמת גמישות (הפרדו אפילו קצת יותר). שני החומרים האחרונים גמישים מאד, דבר שמגדיל את מספר הפרויקטים שניתן להכין איתם (לדוגמא סימניות)

Caning –

Since the clay is very soft t was very hard to cane with it. I consider myself an advanced caner so I did mange to make a decent cane with it but it was very soft and it was very hard to make the cane. While with other clays, when they are too soft I sometimes make the cane and leave it to stiffen over night on my working table but with the Pardo clay I left the cane for more then a week on my working area and it was still too soft to slice (I even replace my blade to a new one to ease the slicing but it was a minor improvement).

הכנת גלילים –

מכיוון שהחימר מאד רך הכנת גליל היתה ממש "מבצע". אני מחשיבה את עצמי כיוצרת "מתקדמת" ועדיין היה לי מאד קשה להכין גליל מדויק. הגליל נשאר רך מאד גם לאחר הנחתות על שולחן העבודה ליותר משבוע. ניסיתי גם להחליף לסכין (מיועדת לחימר פולימרי) חדשה כדי להקל על פריסת הגליל ועדיין הגללי נמרח בפריסה.

Sculpting-

The clay is very easy to work with hence it is very nice to make sculptures with.

מכיוון שהחומר רך הפיסול היה קל ונעים מאד לעבודה

Texture

It was very east to make textures on the clay. Shaving them with the clay blade was a bit harder but it turned all right.

טקסטורות –


קל מאד להטביע טקסטורות על החומר. לגלח אותם עם הסכין היתה פעולה קצת יותר מסובכת אבל בסך הכל עבר "בסדר".

Summary-

The clay is a new refreshing product that I am sure clayers would like. It is great for children and jewelry makers that make simple shapes with it. Yet, I don’t think it will fulfill the need of the more advanced clayers, especially not it countries (like Israel) that are humid and warm.

סיכום –

פרדו הוא תוספת מרעננת לליין החימר הפולימרי המוכר לנו עד היום. הוא מקסים לעבודה עם ילדים וליוצרי תכשיטים מתחילים. יחד עם זאת, אני לא חושבת שהוא עונה על הצרכים של יוצרים מתקדמים יותר בחימר פולימרי, במיוחד לא בארצות חמות כמו ישראל.
(אם מחירו יהיה תחרותי לשאר האלטרנטיבות בשוק הוא יכול להיות הצלחה גם אצלנו.)

New Project from Donna Kato

שלב ראשון

צריך חותכן בייגל, משטח שחור על מספר 3 במכונה וגיליון של שאריות מרודד על מספר 2 במכונה יש להכין את המשטח הזה עבה יותר היות ובהמשך הוא יימתח ואנו לא רוצים שהוא יהיה דק מדיי.

את החותכן ניתן לקנות און ליין בחנות של דונה

שלב שני

מניחים את החותכן עם הצד החד כלפי מעלה ומעליו מניחים את משטח השאריות. לוחצים פנימה את המשטח. ככל שנלחץ יותר כך הבייגל יהיה עבה יותר

שלב שלישי -

אחרי עיצוב הבייגל מניחים את החותכן (חלק השאריות כלפי מטה) על המשטח השחור וחותכים דרך שני המשטחים.

מסירים את השאריות מסביב

טוב זה לאפות את החותכן יחד עם החימר כדי לא לעוות את הצורה. בחום של 130 מעלות למשך 30 דקות.

שלב רביעי

לאחר האפייה השוליים מעט חדים, משייפים אותם באמצעות נייר שיוף מים.

שלב חמישי

הנה תמונה של הבייגל מהצד.

שלב שישי -

זה הצד האחורי. מכיוון שנצפה ונאפה שוב, נחורר חור קטן לאויר בגב בתליון. חור זה יבטיח שהחלק הקמור לא יקרוס באפייה

השנייה

שלב שביעי -

מרחו שכבה נכבדה של חימר פולימרי נוזלי, צפו במשטח לבחירתכם (דונה ציפתה בטכניקה של הדפסת משי).
חתכו את השאריות ואפו שוב.

what to do with all these matza?

I got an order for 5 pairs of salad utencils to be prepared within 3 days- THAT WAS A BIG TASK!!!
since I work full time and have a second job being a mom, I found myself working on this project every night and woke up at 5 AM in the morning to finish...
Enough wailing- the job is done, the client is happy and so am I...
